MCW Global 2024 Young Leaders Fellowship

The MCW Global 2024 Young Leaders Fellowship offers a unique leadership experience that welcomes young individuals aged 18 to 26 from across the globe. It is designed for those aspiring to make a difference in their communities by focusing on projects related to education, healthcare, and economic stability. This year-long initiative equips young participants with the skills and mindset required to lead positive transformations in their localities, emphasizing leadership development, a global perspective, self-awareness, and strategic vision planning.

Through collaboration between the program team, mentors, and mentees, the fellowship collectively endeavors to make a tangible impact on communities by bringing innovative ideas and concrete projects to life. This approach effectively fulfills the mission of instigating local change through a global exchange of knowledge and expertise.

MCW Global: An Overview

MCW Global is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the vision of elevating education, enhancing healthcare, and improving economic stability in communities worldwide. Our mission is centered on addressing the immediate needs of communities by empowering existing leaders and grooming the leaders of the future. Established in 1999, MCW Global is headquartered in New York and has partner organizations in Africa, specifically in Rwanda, Tanzania, and Zambia. Our initiatives include the Young Leaders Program and the Africa Program, which places a strong emphasis on Oral Health Care and Community Development.

Objectives and Advantages of MCW Global Young Leaders Fellowship

  • International airfare for participants traveling from abroad
  • Domestic air travel within the United States for U.S.-based participants
  • Accommodation provided from the evening of July 8 to July 18, 2024
  • Three daily meals from July 9 to July 18, 2024
  • Round-trip travel between New York, New York, and Burlington, Vermont
  • Public transportation to and from JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark Airports

Eligibility Criteria for MCW Global Young Leaders Fellowship Young Leaders Should:

  1. Demonstrate a strong commitment to their community.
  2. Identify a specific issue related to education, health, or economic security within their community.
  3. Fall within the age range of 18-26 at the program’s commencement on June 1, 2024.
  4. Possess proficiency in both written and spoken English.
  5. Pledge to complete the Community Needs Assessment in June, attend the 10-day in-person program in July, and dedicate the following year to implementing their community project.
  6. Have access to email and the internet to facilitate ongoing communication with the MCW Global Team and Young Leaders Fellowship alumni-mentors throughout the year-long program.
  7. Comply with the graduation requirements outlined for Young Leaders Fellowship (provided upon program acceptance).
  8. Be eligible to obtain the necessary visa and travel documentation.
  9. Submit a fully completed application on or before Sunday, November 12, 2023, by 11:59 PM (NYC EST time).

  • The application must be filled out in English.
  • Letters of recommendation and resumes also need to be written in English. Any part of the application that is not written in English will not be read and be considered incomplete.
  • The application includes:
    1. General Information
    2. Essay Questions
      • Identify an issue in your community that concerns you. How would you address this issue?
      • Describe one time you have faced a challenge and used leadership skill to come up with a solution.
    3. Resume
      • Your resume should not be more than 1 page. We suggest that it be prepared in Times New Roman, 12 font, with 1-inch margins.
    4. Two Letters of recommendation
      • Your letters should come from people who know your work ethic and commitment to your community. Friends and family members are discouraged from writing letters of recommendation.
      • Recommenders should state their name, position, contact info, and relationship to the applicant at the top of the letter.
    5. Liability Waiver
