Applications are now open for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Ad-Hoc Staff Recruitment for 2027 General Election. INEC is registering temporary personnel to support election activities in roles covering supervision, polling-unit operations, Registration Area Centre management and technical support across Nigeria. Registration for the 2027 election exercise is scheduled to close on 18 November 2026 at 12:00 midnight.
The engagement is temporary and does not constitute permanent employment with INEC. Selected personnel will attend required training and perform duties at assigned polling units, Registration Area Centres or other designated election locations according to their role, selected state of residence and INEC’s operational requirements.

About The 2027 INECPRES Recruitment
The registration exercise is conducted through the INEC Portal for the Engagement of Election Staff, known as INECPRES. The recruitment covers all states of Nigeria, although an applicant’s eventual deployment depends on the selected state of residence, assigned area and INEC’s operational requirements.

Available Election-Staff Positions
INEC identifies five main position categories for the election-staff registration exercise:
- Supervisory Presiding Officer

1. Supervisory Presiding Officers
Supervisory Presiding Officers supervise election personnel and polling operations within their assigned areas. The role carries supervisory and operational responsibilities across the polling activities covered by the officer’s assignment.
The stated eligible groups include federal public or civil servants and staff of ministries, departments and agencies who meet the applicable Grade Level 10 to 14 requirement. INEC Registration Area Officers and eligible INEC personnel also qualify where they meet the relevant conditions and availability requirements shown in the INECPRES system.
2. Presiding Officers
Presiding Officers oversee and support voting and other activities at assigned polling units. This is a field-based role that requires attendance at the assigned election location and participation in the required training.
The stated eligible groups include qualified staff of ministries, departments and agencies, eligible students of tertiary institutions, serving National Youth Service Corps members and eligible former corps members. Applicants must satisfy the qualification, status and other conditions displayed for the position in INECPRES.
3. Assistant Presiding Officers I, II and III
Assistant Presiding Officers support Presiding Officers with voting and other polling-unit operations. The specific duties depend on the APO level and the operational assignment made by INEC.
The stated eligible groups include applicants with the applicable OND or NCE qualifications and required employment status, eligible tertiary-institution students, serving NYSC members and eligible former corps members. The recruitment criteria identify former corps members from 2024 to 2026, subject to the conditions applicable in the registration system.
4. Registration Area Centre Managers
Registration Area Centre Managers perform duties connected with Registration Area Centres. These centres are hosted in schools, institutions or other approved public buildings and support the arrangements for election personnel within the relevant Registration Area.
The stated eligible groups include heads of schools hosting Registration Area Centres, generally at Grade Level 07 or above. Eligible staff of the hosting school, institution or public building may qualify where permitted by the applicable criteria. 5. Registration Area Technical Support Personnel
Registration Area Technical Support Personnel provide technical assistance for election activities in assigned Registration Areas. Their functions relate to election-related systems, equipment and operational activities.
The stated eligible groups include information technology students of recognised tertiary institutions, eligible former corps members with relevant prior service or INEC-related experience, and eligible INEC ICT personnel at state or headquarters level. Applicants must meet the technical, institutional and non-conflicting-duty requirements applicable to the position.
Eligibility And Requirements
Eligibility depends on the position selected.
