Written by We are seeking a Core R&D Software Engineer with a strong foundation in Go and/or Rust, solid web fundamentals, and a genuine interest in blockchain infrastructure and AI-assisted development.
In this role, you will help design, build, and optimize both internal and external services that power our infrastructure stack.
This includes systems that integrate with Ethereum execution clients (such as Erigon) and other Web3 tooling.
You will work closely with the Head of R&D and senior engineers, progressively taking ownership of key projects, contributing to technical decision-making, and driving features from concept to production.
This position is well suited for a senior-level engineer who is:
- Strong in traditional software engineering fundamentals
- Curious and hands-on with blockchain technologies
- Comfortable using LLMs and AI tools as productivity enhancers—not substitutes for deep understanding
What You’ll Do
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services in Go and/or Rust, interfacing with blockchain infrastructure and internal platforms.
- Contribute directly to client software (cdk-erigon) and support its integration into broader ecosystems, including research into performance, interoperability, and related areas.
- Collaborate with the Core R&D team on projects involving Ethereum execution clients, such as integrations, monitoring solutions, and performance optimizations.
- Participate in technical design discussions, helping define architecture, patterns, and engineering standards.
- Use AI tools (e.g., Claude, Copilot, Cursor) to:
- Accelerate research and prototyping
- Improve code quality and test coverage
- Draft and refine technical documentation
- Own features end-to-end—from ideation and design through implementation, testing, deployment, and iteration.
- Contribute to a high-quality engineering culture through code reviews, documentation, and knowledge sharing.
Must-Have Skills
- 3–5+ years of professional software engineering experience (or equivalent demonstrated impact).
- Strong experience building production services in Go and/or Rust.
- Solid understanding of Git, branching strategies, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Proven ability to own and deliver features in a live production environment.
Experience using LLMs and AI coding assistants in a structured, thoughtful way:
- Writing effective prompts
- Validating and refining outputs
- Treating AI as a productivity multiplier, not a replacement for expertise
Nice-to-Have / Strong Plus
- Exposure to blockchain or Web3 infrastructure, including:
- Running or integrating with crypto nodes (Ethereum, rollups, etc.)
- Familiarity with execution clients such as Erigon, Geth, Reth, or Besu
- Experience building distributed systems or high-performance backend services.
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Background in Core R&D, platform, or infrastructure teams.
- Contributions to open-source projects, especially in Go, Rust, or blockchain tooling.
- Previous experience working in remote-first teams.
