Total Indicative Budget: €25 million (≈ €5 million per project, ~5 projects expected)
The Global Collaboration Action on Climate and Health in Sub-Saharan Africa is a major two-stage research funding call under the European Union’s Horizon Europe programme, managed by the Global Health EDCTP3 Joint Undertaking. It invites international research consortia to develop large-scale research and innovation projects that address the impact of climate change on health in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA).
This challenge focuses on climate-sensitive infectious diseases, health system adaptation, and multidisciplinary responses that bridge climate science, public health, and health systems resilience.
Who Can Apply
Eligible applicants must form a multi-partner research consortium that includes:
At least three independent legal entities from different eligible countries
At least one entity from an EU Member State or associated country (member of the EDCTP Association)
At least one entity from a Sub-Saharan African country member of the EDCTP Association
Consortia can include universities, research institutes, NGOs, health agencies, private sector partners, and international organisations. Projects should demonstrate scientific excellence, implementation strategy, and measurable impact.
Funding & Impact

- One Health approaches integrating human, animal, and ecosystem health
- Community health engagement and policy translation
Funded projects are expected to contribute to Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) and SDG 13 (Climate Action), while strengthening global health security through collaborative research.
