Written by In a move aimed at reducing the financial burden of higher education in Nigeria, Selar has unveiled the Smart Hustle Initiative 2026, its social impact and corporate social responsibility arm focused on expanding access to education and promoting legitimate pathways to success for young Nigerians.
The initiative comes at a time when rising tuition fees across universities, polytechnics, and secondary schools have placed significant pressure on students and families. Through its tuition support programme, Selar has already assisted more than 200 final-year students in easing their academic journey.
The 2026 edition introduces a ₦10,000,000 total tuition fund commitment aimed at supporting both tertiary and secondary school students who demonstrate academic merit and financial need.
Under the scheme, 50 final-year students in universities or polytechnics will receive ₦100,000 each, while 100 SS3 students will receive ₦50,000 each to support their examination and education-related expenses.
Eligibility Criteria
- For university and polytechnic applicants, candidates must be final-year students enrolled in an accredited public or private tertiary institution in Nigeria.
- Applicants must be living and studying in Nigeria and have a minimum CGPA of 3.0 or a cumulative grade of 65 percent or higher, supported by academic records.
- A clear video statement of purpose is required, along with proof of financial or economic need, a valid student ID card, and the most recent academic transcript.
- For secondary school applicants in SS3, candidates must provide proof of SS3 status through first-term results, evidence of registration for WAEC or JAMB, and a video application.
Required Documents
Applicants are expected to submit a completed application form, academic transcripts, a personal statement in video format, a valid student ID card, and WAEC or JAMB registration details for secondary school students.

Interested and qualified applicants are required to complete the official application form and upload all required documents. The organisers emphasise that accurate completion of the application and proper documentation will significantly influence the selection outcome.
