- Works can be in English or any Nigerian language (with subtitles if needed).
Entries should be original works and must not have previously won a national or international award.

The inaugural theme, Identity, encourages filmmakers to dig deep into questions like:
- What does identity mean to you — personally or culturally?
- How does community shape who you are?
- How do memory, heritage, language, or belief inform identity?

Selection Process
The judging process includes:
- Longlisting: Initial screening for eligibility and artistic merit.
- Shortlisting: Selection of the strongest entries based on creativity and impact.
- Final Judging: Evaluation by a panel of industry experts.
A distinguished panel, led by chairperson Dr. Sam Dede (veteran actor, director, and senior lecturer), will assess entries alongside other respected filmmakers, including Adeola Aderonke and George Ugwuja.
The winner will be announced in October 2026 at NLNG’s Grand Award Night, alongside winners of the Nigeria Prizes for Science and Literature.
