Written by The NEPL/OERNL JV Tertiary Scholarship Scheme is designed to support young Nigerian undergraduates who are currently in their 100 level and studying full-time in recognized tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
The scholarship is divided into two categories, making it accessible to both students from host communities and students from other parts of the country.
This means whether you are from an Oando Host/Transit Community or not, there may still be a category for you — provided you meet the conditions.
Scholarship Categories
There are two award categories under this scholarship scheme:
1. Host/Transit Communities Merit Award
This category is strictly for applicants who are indigenes of Oando Host/Transit Communities.
2. National Merit Award
This category is for applicants who are not from Oando Host/Transit Communities.
However, there is an important condition:
For the National Merit Award, only students studying the following courses are eligible:
- Engineering
- Geology
- Geosciences
- Agricultural Sciences
Who Can Apply?
To qualify for the NNPC/OANDO JV Tertiary Scholarship Scheme 2026/2027, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- You must be a registered full-time undergraduate student in a Nigerian tertiary institution.
- You must be a certified 100-level student at the time of application.
- You must meet the specific conditions of the category you are applying for.
This scholarship is mainly targeted at students who are just starting their university education and need support early in their academic journey.
Who Should NOT Apply?
Not everybody is eligible, and applying when you do not qualify may waste your time or even lead to disqualification.
You should NOT apply if you fall into any of these categories:
- 200-level students and above
- Students already benefiting from a similar scholarship from another company or agency
- Dependants of staff of Oando Plc and its subsidiaries
Special Eligibility for Host Community Applicants
If you want to apply under the Host/Transit Communities Merit Award, you must be an indigene of one of Oando’s host/transit communities in the following states:
- Rivers
- Bayelsa
- Delta
- Imo
This category is specifically reserved for students from those eligible communities, so make sure you have the required proof before applying.
Courses Eligible for National Merit Award
If you are applying under the National Merit Award, you must be studying one of the approved disciplines below:
- Engineering
- Geology
- Geosciences
- Agricultural Sciences
If your course is outside these fields and you are not applying under the host community category, then you may not be eligible.

Important Notes About the Scholarship Test
There are a few very important things every applicant should know:
- The aptitude test will be conducted online
- Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for the test
- Applicants who score less than 50% overall in the aptitude test will not be considered
Required Documents for Application
Before you begin the application, make sure you have clear scanned copies of all required documents.
You will need:
- Recent passport photograph with white background
- Not more than 6 months old
- Size: 450px by 450px
- File size: Not more than 200KB
- School ID Card
- O’Level Certificate
- Admission Letter
- Birth Certificate
- Proof of Local Government Area of Origin
- JAMB Result
- Compliance Form
Additional Documents for Host Community Applicants Only:
If you are applying under the Host/Transit Communities Merit Award, you must also provide:
- Letter from Community Paramount Ruler
- Letter from CDC Chairman
These are compulsory for host community applicants.
