Call For Applications: Ominira Initiative Free Trade Fellowship 2026 (Fully Remote)

Applications are now open for the 2026 Ominira Initiative Free Trade Fellowship, a six-month remote programme designed to support Nigerian professionals interested in economic development and free trade advocacy.

The fellowship, organised by the Ominira Initiative, provides a structured learning platform for professionals working in journalism, research, policy, and civil society to deepen their knowledge of economic liberalisation and contribute meaningfully to national policy conversations.

Through research, dialogue, and media engagement, the programme aims to strengthen evidence-based discussions on trade policy and economic reforms in Nigeria.

Eligibility Criteria

• The fellowship is open to Nigerian professionals with an interest in economic advancement and policy discourse.
• Eligible applicants include media professionals, academics and researchers, civil society or NGO staff, as well as other professionals with relevant experience in economic or policy discussions.
• Applicants are expected to demonstrate a strong interest in trade policy, business environment reforms, and free trade advocacy.

• Interested applicants are required to complete the online application form and provide personal details including their full name, email address, phone number, gender, occupation, and current city and country of residence.
• Applicants must also submit a written statement of no more than 200 words explaining their understanding of free trade and economic advancement, as well as why they wish to spend six months studying and advocating these ideas.
• In addition, candidates must provide links to two of their best published articles or research outputs and submit a CV or résumé not exceeding 10MB via a shareable link.
• Only complete applications submitted before the deadline will be considered.
